Four years ago, two freshman lawmakers were engaged in a heated — if premature — battle to decide who would be speaker of the House in 2014.
Both were back in the news last week.
The first is South Florida Republican Erik Fresen — a man I profiled Wednesday for passing much-needed legislation to crack down on the vile practice of teenage sex slavery. Fresen’s Safe Harbor Act was touted by law enforcement, newspapers across the state and politicians on both sides of the aisle. It was good policy meant to combat heinous acts.
