John Quinones is one of four Republicans running for newly drawn Congressional District 9, a roughly 43-percent Hispanic district that includes much of east Orange, all of Osceola and a chunk of Polk counties. But it tells you something about the state of the race when Quinones issues a press release touting his first-place finish the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce’s Eastside Hob Nob straw poll — and declaring he “defeated Alan Grayson decisively.” Grayson, of course, is the firebrand Democrat who’s running in this district after he was defeated for re-election in 2010 by U.S. Rep. Dan Webster, R-Winter Garden, in a more-Republican district that included a good chunk of the new CD9. Click here for the full Orland Sentinel article.
