We’re trying to STOP a huge URBAN SPRAWL PROJECT at PHASE ONE. This project was shot down in 2010 — Let’s STOP this again!

*WHO: We need you!! And anyone concerned with protecting some ecologically diverse lands in CFL!

*WHAT: To help STOP a HUGE development from happening along the Econ River, in currently a RURAL part of Orange County,
where protected wildlife species Gopher Tortoise, Bald Eagle, Florida Sandhill Crane, White Ibis, Sherman’s Fox Squirrel, and Alligator have been located, and this area is also suitable for Kestrel, Crested Caracara, Wood Stork, Eastern Indigo Snake, Bobcat, FL Black Bear, FL Scrub Jay and FL Panther.. just to name a few!

This area is an ecologically diverse, rural area of land.
This is upland and wetland habitat, comprised of:
pine flatwoods, many types of oaks, cypress trees, palmettos, hardwoods, sand pine, and other types of native vegetation.

(This development would impact the Econ and the quality of water. The Econ travels North –All the way up to the St. Johns. With more development, this could lead to more run-off. More contamination. Not to mention: MORE TRAFFIC.)

*WHEN: Looks like: Thursday,Feb 20th 9 am, join us for a rally/peaceful protest and then a sit-in (or SIGN UP and SPEAK OUT as well!) starting at 10:30 am inside the building.
BRING A SIGN about saving this land if you could!
The MEDIA should be here. We need a FULL HOUSE this day.

*WHERE: 201 S. Rosalind Avenue, Orlando FL 32801.
FREE parking in the lot, hourly parking in the garage across the street, and meter parking on adjacent streets.

*WHY: RYBOLT/LENNAR homes/others are trying to place a whole development with houses/homes, running between N. Tanner Road & 419, and McColloch Road & Colonial Drive. (Maps/images provided below on this page.)

(This project has been shot down once before in 2010:

We NEED TO FILL THE ROOM with folks against more URBAN SPRAWL, and folks concerned over the flora and fauna of this area.

*PLEASE WEAR GREEN if possible, and bring a sign!*

More issues with this project that concern us/talking points:

1.) It is projected to cost ATLEAST 40 MILLION DOLLARS to create a BRIDGE over the Econ (right where the Orange Co. and Seminole Co. border meets, see image below), in order to expand McCulloch road to travel EASTBOUND toward 419!!

2.) Endangered and threatened species of both flora and fauna are in this selected area of development.

3.) Folks that live out this way DO NOT want more development. They moved out this way for a reason — to live in a RURAL community. Ask the folks in Chuluota!

4.) Current roads are not conducive to more traffic. There would need to be MORE TAX PAYER money spent to expand current roadways.

5.) The area is ALREADY saturated with homes for sale — WHY build more homes out this way–and so CLOSE to the Econ?
