Orange County Democratic leaders picked state Rep. Scott Randolph Wednesday night to fill in for Tax Collector Earl K. Wood on the Nov. 6 ballot.

Wood died early Monday at age 96, setting off a scramble among Democrats over who would replace him to challenge Republican Jim Huckeba on Election Day.

Randolph beat out a handful of other party loyalists, including former Orlando City Commissioner Phil Diamond.
