A WESH 2 News investigation reveals another commissioner, Scott Boyd, was texting with at least four lobbyists on the day of a vote on a controversial sick pay initiative.

Boyd and four other commissioners voted to delay putting the earned sick time initiative on the November ballot. Local theme parks, restaurants and other service industries opposed paying employees when they’re out sick.

Boyd originally told WESH 2 that he did not delete text messages from that day and that he was not texting lobbyists.

“No one was giving me any advice as far as what I was going to do,” said Boyd.

But Boyd called WESH 2 several hours later and said he misspoke during the on-camera interview.
