State Rep. Mike Horner, who abandoned his re-election campaign Monday after being named in a prostitution and racketeering investigation, remains president of the Kissimmee/Osceola Chamber of Commerce — at least for the time being.

Chamber Chairman Pete Pace issued a statement today praising Horner as “a stellar leader of this Chamber for 15 years, ushering our membership through unprecedented growth and stability.”

Horner “is taking some time to be with his family,” the statement continues. “The Chamber leadership will be evaluating the situation before any actions, if needed, are taken.”

Horner, Chamber president since 1996, had been seeking a third term in the state House representing the Kissimmee area.
