A musical based on 1960′s music, show business aspirations and the success of acts such as The Supremes, The Shirelles, and the incomparable James Brown. This Tony Award Winning musical captures the spirit of hope and Motown when a girl group from Chicago get their big break in a business controlled by men. As they struggle to find their musical and cultural identify they also fight for fellowship, sisterhood, and true love at any cost. Marriage Equality Rally @ Lake Eola Bandshell

The Center Orlando’s volunteer staff will be assembling and placing red luminaries around Lake Eola to symbolically “Paint The Town” red. This will be a visually stunning moment to celebrate Marriage Equality, the work that has taken place to get us to the Supreme Court, and to reflect on all of the struggles thus far, and work to be done still. If you would like to sponsor a luminaire, we are providing name tags for each bag that we will use to show your sponsorship! The program for the Marriage Equality Rally is starting to take shape! We are proud to announce that we have tentative speakers we are finalizing confirmations with who will speak from Federal, State, and Local Government, local clergy, activists, entertainers, a celebrity or two, and community members! More information coming as we receive confirmations!

In addition, after the rally we plan on having activities available to celebrate this moment! More to follow.

We will provide a lot more information including the program for this event as our plans finalize throughout May – however this is one you DONT WANT TO MISS!!!

This will be our pep rally / celebration of the SCOTUS decisions, along with more information of upcoming challenges our community still faces for full equality alongside our straight allies!

And most of all, this is going to be FUN! Get ready to have a blast!

This event is FREE to attend! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate these cases making it to the Supreme Court, and we want everyone to participate in this historic moment with us!

We are looking for volunteers who would like to join us at the Lake Eola Bandshell to help setup the area for the festivity, create the luminaires and distribute them around the lake, and to help afterwards with general cleanup and breakdown. Camp Wellstone FL: FL New Majority

Camp Wellstone is a 2 ½ day training running from 3-9pm Friday, 9am-6pm Saturday, and 9am-3:30pm Sunday. It is open to anyone interested in gaining practical skills in progressive political action. During Camp Wellstone, we provide focus areas based on your role in progressive organizing, each with a distinctive curriculum taught by some of the nation’s leading experts in grassroots politics and organizing.

Registration is now open!

When you register, you choose from one of three tracks below and stay with that track throughout the weekend:

Camp Wellstone Grassroots Organizer Track: How to win on grassroots organizing issues
Camp Wellstone Working on a Campaign: How to win progressive campaigns as a campaign worker or volunteer
Camp Wellstone Being a Candidate: How to run and win a progressive campaign, for those running for office or considering running in the future

Registration Fees

The cost to attend is $50 and covers the training, customized materials, one of our books, and 3 meals during the weekend. If necessary, the fee will also cover travel and lodging.

Refunds and Cancellation Policy

A refund will be made if cancellation is requested at least one week prior to the start date of the training. All other cancellations after this time may allow for sending another individual in your place, or holding the registration fee to attend a future Camp Wellstone training.

Training Location and Details

The training location is TBD, but will be announced as soon as possible to those who are registered.
