Former President Bill Clinton cheered Florida Democrats on Saturday with recollections of the economic boom times during his presidency – and the hope his party will prevail in 2014 and beyond.
To make that a reality, he helped the state’s Democratic Party raise a boatload of campaign cash.
He offered tactics and policy:
-Figure out how to convince Democratic voters who don’t participate in midterm elections to turn out. “You’ve got to show up,” he said. “They have to know that it matters.”
-Embrace Obamacare and pushing issues such as increasing the minimum wage and expanding the Medicaid health program for the poor. “Healthcare does not have to be a negative for us if we tell the truth,” which Clinton said required reminding people of its benefits.
