Two days after launching ads to promote Frank Bruno in Senate District 8 and Karen Castor Dentel in House District 30, the Florida Democratic Party today starts advertising for Linda Stewart in House District 7.

But unlike the openers for Bruno and Castor Dentel, both soft-focused introductory spots, this one goes right after Stewart’s Republican opponent, former state Rep. Bob Brooks, attacking him for old legislative votes to cut funding for maternity care and domestic-violence victims.

The Democrats don’t need to spend as much time introducing Stewart to voters because the former Orange County commissioner and 2010 candidate for county mayor already has lots of name recognition in the district, which runs from Winter Park through downtown Orlando neighborhoods to the Conway area, Stewart’s longtime base.

“I think you have to stand on your record. And I stand very proudly on my record,” Stewart says in the spot.
