The workers’ advocate group behind an Orange County sick-time ballot measure held a fund raiser last night that drew notable national and local Democrats, including former. U.S. Rep. Pat Schroeder, and past Maryland Lt. Gov.Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.

Other Democrats lending their name to the cause included former county Mayor Linda Chapin and former U.S. Rep.Alan Grayson, D-Orlando, who is now vying to return to Congress. Also pitching in, the group said, was former Rollins College President Rita Bornstein and former U.S. Rep. Jim Bacchus.

“Now that the Supervisor of Elections has officially certified our petitions momentum is building behind the Earned Sick Time initiative,” Marlon Washington, Chairman of Citizens for a Greater Orange County said in a statement.  “We’re honored to have the support of so many great champions for small business and working families lending their support.”
