Results of the Orange County Commission district 3 race were arguably as much about Mayor Teresa Jacobs and future state House Speaker Chris Dorworth as they were about the two candidates who made the runoff.
The Republican Jacobs backed Lui Damiani, a political independent who placed first in the election Tuesday. He will face second-place finisher Republican Pete Clarke in the Nov. 6 runoff.
Dorworth, R-Lake Mary, steered $20,000 to a group that helped finance the campaign of Eric Lasso, a college pal. But Lasso placed fourth in the five-way race, despite overwhelming most other candidates with many more mailers and billboards.
