TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida Gov. Rick Scott is being asked to extend the number of early voting days in all counties.

State Sen. Arthenia Joyner, D-Tampa along with Rep. Alan Williams, D-Tallahassee and others showed up Monday at Scott’s office to talk with him.

A federal court ruled last week that new restrictions on early voting passed last year cannot take effect in five counties covered by federal voting laws. The court says the changes, which are already in effect in 62 other counties, could hurt participation by blacks.

Joyner wants Scott to order counties to have up to 14 days of early voting.
